The Story Behind the Design

In 2018, we designed the world's first convertible parka-prayer dress- The Prayer Parka™. Since then, many have asked us for more inclusive designs. We're now back with the travel system that made the hit 8 years ago- now applied to a two-piece dress.

Care
  • Hand wash, or machine wash cold on a gentle cycle inside a laundry net
  • Remove the pin and close the zip before washing
  • Mild detergent only, no bleach or fabric softener
  • Air dry in the shade, avoid tumble drying and direct heat
  • Cool iron only if needed
  • Wipe the pouch clean with a damp cloth

FAQs

Isn't SalahWear™ just a telekung or mukena?

That's where you'll eventually be in for a surprise. Our SalahWear™ range first begins with a tribute to the two-piece style, more often known as "telekung" in Malaysia and "mukena" in Indonesia.

However, like all TAKVA innovations, you'll soon find that our goal is not to fixate on any one style but a global piece that is multi-adaptable for any muslim woman, from any part of the world. If you want to know more, follow our innovation journey.

What face sizes does the adjustable hood fit?

The hood zip adjusts from 26cm to 50cm, so you set your own face opening instead of relying on a fixed size. Or, you can wear it like a cape top if you're already wearing a hijab. Read more about this here.

How does SalahWear™ stop the fabric flying up during sujud?

A weighted pin secures the top to the skirt, keeping the lightweight fabric in place even under a fan or air-conditioning. You might also feel free to add on customizations with our TAKKITs pin range.

What's included with SalahWear™?

The two-piece garment (top + skirt), a drawstring storage pouch, a carabiner, weighted pin, and a free colour-matched acrylic keychain (Limited to the first 200pcs only, while stocks last)

How small does SalahWear™ fold down?

It packs into its own pouch at roughly 9 x 9cm (9cm x 12cm if roughly packed in), light enough to clip to a bag with the included carabiner. Read more on how to fold your SalahWear™ here.

What is SalahWear™ made of, and how do I care for it?

100% nylon — lightweight and quick-drying. For best care, it should be hand-washed or washed in a net bag in a washing machine at delicate setting. The pouch should not be washed as it is waterproof - only wipe lightly with damp cloth or sponge. Hang drip dry only, never iron.
