We Made the World's Firsts in Muslim Lifestyle
Since 2018, TAKVA has been building products the Muslim lifestyle category didn't know it was missing. Here's what we pioneered, why it matters, and where to shop each one.
2018: The First portable prayer mat, made in Japan
Before the TAKVA Pocket Sejadah™, "travel prayer mat" meant a thin folded rug that soaked through, tore at the seams, or barely fit in a bag. Designed in Japan, the Pocket Sejadah was built from the ground up as the world's first waterproof prayer mat that folded into its own embedded pocket, and sturdy enough for daily use.
2018: The First water-resistant portable prayer dress designed like an outdoor parka
The Prayer Parka is a single, one-piece design with a double hood. It was the first of its kind of portable prayer dresses that was built be worn for prayer both indoors and outdoors, rain or shine.
We have evolved this range to the SalahWear™ range of prayer dresses.
2019: The First magnet-embedded hijab
TAKVA's magnetic hijab and underscarves were the first in the world to introduce embedded magnets in the headscarf, so there's nothing separate to lose, misplace, or clip incorrectly. We introduced this construction in 2018, ahead of the wave of pinless hijabs and magnetic instant hijab products that followed.
2019: The First Wudhu Socks made with a bamboo-lined inner
The Wudhu Socks from Takva were built to solve one problem: making wudu somewhere with no clean, private place to wash your feet. We introduced this in 2019 as an alternative to the khuff, before the wudhu socks were recognized as a useful, modern alternative for the act of masah.
2021: The First Kaaba building blocks that teaches about Hajj
DeenBlocks' Hajj Pilgrimage to Makkah turns the Hajj pilgrimage into a hands-on building experience. It was introduced to the world as the first Islamic-themed blocks that integrated play and education into the teaching of Hajj, and inspired other muslim blocks to follow after.
2021: The First Hangable Prayer Mat to hang on the wall like a painting
In 2021, back when mats were rolled up and stacked in a corner, we introduced a hangable prayer mat and included a hook to act as the prayer mat wall mount. This made our prayer mats look like wall art on the wall, a fresh new take on how prayer mats can be stored at home.
2021: The First indoor prayer mat that is 100% washable
This same hanging prayer mat introduced in 2021 was also able to be washed even though it had a foam padding. Since prayer mats before this could only be wiped with a wet tissue, being able to throw the dirty covers into the washing machine for a full wash was a breath of freshness introduced into the prayer mat market.
Why "First" Means Something at TAKVA
Our humble beginnings started in the countryside of Fukuoka, Japan, with the vision of building the world's first innovative Muslim lifestyle brand.
With every innovation, TAKVA introduced a specific design, mechanism, or construction before any other brand we could find offered it — not simply that we were the first to enter a product category. Each claim on this page is tied to a specific feature: a built-in magnet, an attached hanging loop, a Hajj-specific building set, and so on.
Every product on this page was verified by Islamic scholars and is trusted by Muslims worldwide, because being first only matters if it's also right.
So if you ever see a product out there that contests this claim, we welcome you to challenge it- or us.
