The Story Behind Lumi
We envision the DeenBlocks® Lumi Series to spark questions at the dinner table, stories before bedtime, and pride in who we are as an ummah. Because when a child learns about those who came before, they start believing in what they can become.
Why was the Lumi Series created?
We wanted to give Muslim children heroes who feel real — thinkers, explorers, and dreamers who changed the world with their faith and curiosity. Lumi was born from the hope that kids could rediscover these stories not in textbooks, but through play.
Why focus on the Islamic Golden Age?
There was a time when Muslim scholars led the world in discovery, art, and science. We chose this era because it shows children that being Muslim and being curious are one and the same. Faith inspired progress — and it still can.
What inspired the name “Lumi”?
“Lumi” comes from nur — light. It stands for the light of knowledge, the light of faith, and the light that guided generations before us. Each figure carries a spark from that same light — reminding us that learning is an act of worship too.
What values does Lumi teach?
